After an amputation, many affected individuals want to recreate their outside appearance in as much detail as possible. This can be achieved with a custom-made, anatomically shaped silicone cover based on the sound limb. Wearing short skirts or pants and open shoes becomes possible without restrictions again.

Every silicone cover is one of a kind and features a number of benefits. Next to UV and temperature resistance, key advantages include greater resistance to dirt and ease of cleaning with water and ph-neutral soap.

If you opt for a cover in the "Natural" design, you can influence, prior to completion at the Ottobock Competence Center, the final appearance of your leg prosthesis.

Detailed skin structures

Individual blood vessel structures and skin pigmentation are important elements for visually replicating the human leg. These are authentically designed according to your wishes, modelled on the sound leg.

Natural toenails

The shape and colour of the nails has to appear as natural as possible and should be identical to those on your sound foot. Nails can even be painted if desired.

Living skin colour

Up to 10 colours are used to design the cover in order to replicate your sound leg as exactly as possible.

Authentic leg hair

Many affected individuals want to wear summery clothes or short sports attire without immediately drawing attention to the prosthesis. Leg hair can be integrated into the cover in order to make this possible. This too is then designed using the sound leg as a model.

Care instructions

Ottobock fabricates custom silicone covers for lower limb prostheses. The chosen high-grade silicone materials cover all important characteristics for an optimum fitting: functionality, aesthetics and comfort. Temperature and UV-resistance are just two of the advantages of silicone materials. Silicone prostheses are also easy to care for and very straightforward to clean. They should be cleaned daily with water and pH-neutral soap on the outside. As long as the included care instructions are followed, permanent stains do not stand a chance.
