Hooks

Hooks body harness controlled prosthetic grippers

Hooks offer highly precise gripping for amputees

After an upper limb amputation, patients want to be sure that their prosthetic hand fitting will subsequently enable reliable gripping functions. What are known as hooks can be used instead of system hands as grippers on cable-controlled prostheses. They are particularly well suited for tasks that require highly precise gripping, such as manual work with nails and screws. Hooks are opened by the user with a body harness worn on the upper body and close automatically with spring or rubber elements.

The grippers are made of highly robust materials (e.g. stainless steel) which are easy to clean and lightweight (e.g. aluminium alloys). Next to hooks for children and youths, standard hooks for adults and work hooks for manual work are offered. Your orthopaedic technician will be happy to advise you regarding a suitable option.
